Every once in a while, here at the South Shore Kitchen we stumble across a powerhouse that is combo hard to beat! Our better than the best burger buns toasted perfection, a juicy grilled beef patty, topped with a generous helping of smoky, spicy, sweet bacon jalapeno jam is a force of nature. To call it delicious is an understatement.
Quick and Easy It Is Not
You will need to plan ahead for this one but trust us it is well worth the effort. On the bright side most of the time involved in making the bacon jalapeno jam and hamburger buns is spent waiting for the dough to rise and allowing the jam to simmer. Active working time is about an hour and a half.
Start the Dough Early
We prefer to mix up our dough first thing in the morning to let it rise while we get on with our day. Making the dough will take about 15 minutes but for the first and second rise you will need 2-3 hours. There really is no way to rush this part of the process. Keep in mind, last minute fresh baked buns aren’t going to happen.
Get Your Jam On
Bacon jalapeno jam is another process that can’t be rushed. You need the slow simmer to bring out all the rich flavors. After you have chopped all your ingredients the hardest work you will be doing is occasionally stirring the ingredients. Low and slow is the way to go, for about an hour or until your onions reach a nice soft but not mushy texture.
Some Assembly Required
Buns are baked, jam is ready, and your burger patties are sizzling on the grill. Grab your favorite cheese. We prefer a full flavor cheese such as Havarti or sharp cheddar but feel free to melt your favorite on those patties.
Slice hamburger buns in half, swipe with butter and toast on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown, add hot burger patty, top with a good amount of jalapeno bacon jam, add the bun top and enjoy!
Grab your ultimate jalapeno bacon jam burger, mix up a dark and stormy, and enjoy the best burger you will have all summer!Print
