Tipsy Tuesday is here again and it is time for Cocktail Corner! Each week the South Shore Kitchen Team reviews a drink from our list underappreciated cocktails. This week we are bringing you a whisky kombucha strawberry smash, fresh picked juicy strawberries, an infusion of Meyer lemon & thyme simple syrup, sweet mojito mint straight from the garden, a healthy splash of whisky, topped off with a bubbly splash of kombucha! After being blasted with unbearable summer heat a whisky kombucha strawberry smash is just what we need!
Not Much To It
Basically, all you need to do is gather up your ingredients, whip out your muddler and start smashing until fruit and mint are desired size for drinking. There is no wrong way to do it, more of a personal preference. So, make it all about you!
We used a Meyer lemon & thyme simple syrup, but you can use whatever you have on hand. If you are using plain simple syrup feel free to toss a few leaves of fresh thyme and Meyer lemon zest in with the mint leaves for muddling.
If you do not have simple syrup, please do not ever buy it. You are paying gobs of money for sugar water. It is a basic 1:1 ratio of sugar to water and only takes a few minutes to make. Here is a great primer from the Kitchn if you are new to making simple syrup from scratch.
Use your favorite kombucha, we used our own homebrewed strawberry lemon infused kombucha but feel to use any variety if it is of a complimentary flavor.
Each cocktail we make is rated a 5 cheers system. The South Shore Kitchen team came in with mixed reviews on this one with an average score of 3.25 cheers
Dirt Reynolds: 2 Cheers
Notes: Cough Syrup…

Notes: Refreshing, not too much of an alcohol flavor. Might just be the next best thing since sliced bread 😊
Jerry: 3 Cheers
Notes: Good drink, would have again
Madeline: 4 Cheers
Notes: Fun light drink, very refreshing, probably would not drink more than one. The kombucha is a fun addition.
